Advanced Training in Anthroposophic Midwifery

Advanced training programs explore the deeply human, social, and ecological aspects of being, in conjunction with pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum period up to early childhood. The training serves as an extension of traditional midwifery practice and is based on Rudolf Steiner’s anthroposophical view of the human being.

On an international level, anthroposophic midwifery and training programs vary depending on cultural, societal, and legal conditions, as well as practical possibilities.

Currently, a three-year, part-time advanced training program in anthroposophic midwifery is offered by the Association for Anthroposophic Midwifery (VfaH) in Germany. A multilingual training program is in development, aiming to provide a flexible and location-independent qualification, primarily through guided self-study.

Regular professional exchange meetings for anthroposophic midwives take place, both in-person at regional events and online at international conferences.

The IKAM coordinator supports networking and further training opportunities at international conferences and is responsible for coordinating education and training initiatives.
