Anthroposophic Body Therapies
Anthroposophic Body Therapies are based on the body’s natural healing and regenerative abilities and include therapeutic baths, various massage and movement therapies, among other things. Their methods increase vitality, release tensions on both physical and emotional levels, and lead to a new balance in being through various paths. They not only support physical health but also help to re-establish a deeper connection to oneself and the environment.
The methods of Anthroposophic Body Therapy are based on various medical professions, all of which have the commonality of working in direct body contact with the patient. What they have in common is their roots in Anthroposophy and working with the anthroposophical view of man, both in diagnosis and therapy. Some of their therapies and procedures have been developed directly from Anthroposophic Medicine, while others have been developed based on the anthroposophical view of man.
This makes the coordination of Anthroposophic Body Therapies a special challenge, as it must work for different professional groups, methods and procedures at the same time.
The Anthroposophic Body Therapy Coordination supports and promotes international cooperation among all body therapists who work on an anthroposophical basis. Its aim is to develop effective, innovative and sustainable concepts for cooperation among body therapists and to provide support for individual colleagues.
In the field of research, the Body Therapy Coordination is a member of the Research Council and aims to make the quality of anthroposophical body therapy visible and accessible to people. It therefore plays a key role in developing overarching concepts that can be applied in the various methods.
The Coordination is responsible for quality development in the areas of training and further education (IKAM accreditation procedure) and for certifying therapists.
It also organizes specialist conferences and training courses and regularly holds online events.
The Coordination links experts from the various fields through the International Association for Anthroposophical Body Therapies (IAABT). The International Federation of Anthroposophical Therapies (IFAT) provides a platform for interprofessional exchange with the other therapeutic professions of Heileurythmy and the arts therapies.
