Young Impulses in Anthroposophic Medicine
Young Impulses in Anthroposophic Medicine (YIAM)
What is YIAM (Young Impulses in Anthroposophic Medicine)?
We are a group of young and international people studying and working in Anthroposophic Medicine in various professional fields. We formed at the 2020 annual conference of the medical section, as a continuation of the 'Jungmedizinerforum' which came to an end at that conference. We now coordinate social activities amongst young people in the hope of creating a living and warm community inspired by the work of Rudolf Steiner, Ita Wegman, and others in the broad field of Anthroposophic Medicine.
What do we do?
We have a few different projects, including being involved in organising conferences with the Medical Section, as well as hosting online zoom study groups, lectures, and meetings. One of our main activities is organising in-person meetings twice a year in Spring and Autumn, where we try to really foster our community life and spend time studying Rudolf Steiner's lectures, singing, going on walks, and studying nature.
Organizatianal Structure
We organise ourselves more as a collective without any formal structure, but Tania Prince and Matthew Mirkin mediate the relationship to the Medical section in Dornach as representatives in IKAM.
As a group that is aimed more at younger people, we try to create a welcoming space for people who are new to Anthroposophic Medicine and still exploring. It also means that as people grow older and settle into their professional fields they move on, making our group somewhat transient and always open to adapt to the needs and goals of its members.
