Activities to celebrate the 150th birthday of Ita Wegman

Call for action on the occasion of the 150th birthday of Ita Wegman in 2026

Dear colleagues worldwide,

February 22, 2026 will be a special day! It marks the 150th birthday of Ita Wegman, a person of great courage, strength and intuition who, alongside Rudolf Steiner, brought so many central aspects of our  anthroposophic medical impulse into the world.

To mark the anniversary of her birthday, two special events are planned.
One, a conference entitled “The Courage to Heal” will be held at the Goetheanum from February 20 to 22, 2026. This is being organized by the Medical Section together with the General Anthroposophical Section and the Section for Curative Education and Inclusive Social Development.
We want to pay tribute to Ita Wegman, say “thank you” for the inspiring impulses she gave 100 years ago, and help them become even better known today.

For the second activity we need your direct help. For, in addition to the conference at the Goetheanum we need helpful hands in all parts of the world. We invite you to offer a therapeutic event in your community in honor of Ita Wegman. We hope that you –perhaps with colleagues in your area– will provide a healing experience for others, especially those who might not otherwise have access to these kinds of treatments. And we encourage you to offer it as a free gift to others (without charge).
This could be a workshop on biography, hands-on treatments, whatever you can offer. This is a free choice, depending on your work, your inspiration, and your possibilities!

Please let us know what you are planning. We will be gathering information about the activities that can take place on or around 22 February 2026, at this survey (or click button below).

We will then share information about the collected activities, hopefully also illustrated with reports, photos, or videos (we will reach out to you again after the event to learn more about what happened) and include it as a special presentation at the 2026 International Annual Conference as well as on our website.

We look forward to hearing about your ideas!
With warm regards, Adam Blanning
